A wild leaf, a woman in the arms of the wind

A wanderer, straying to find a lost world.

A word wooer, searching for life’s meaning in words

Refreshing

I’ve always thought that company or having a companion meant being there for one another, cruising through the journey of life, and having someone to get you, and your jokes.

It’s true, but something about it shifted this week.

I enrolled in HIIT classes. As I was dreading my first class the previous night, my husband said it was just the initial jitters of starting something new and that he’d be waiting with my favorite acai bowl by the time I returned.

At that time, I thought he was simply being supportive. That smoothie bowl he referred was just a phrase to comfort me.

I winded up early that night while he was still stuck in work calls almost until or a little after midnight.

The next morning, I woke up barely making it to my class on time. The session lasted only 30 mins which meant I wasn’t completely pulped down to my last ounce of energy.

Renewed, I stepped out into the morning and held my phone. I figured he’d still be asleep and messaging him wouldn’t be a great idea.

Yet I unlock open the phone to check my messages on habit and was greeted by a picture of a pan with roasted oats. Accompanied by a note. It was around 7 am and nonetheless from a guy who could have continued his slumber.

It was like opening a gift wishing for something that you had wanted and finding it right there.

Redefined: A companion – It’s not that he or she would travel with you in all your ups and downs.

But is one who makes your joy a priority over their hardships

No idea when or how I got lucky

. And no idea how I would give back.

But I’m trying to understand love better.

It starts with giving hopelessly.
